4th GRADE PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We are looking for one more volunteer to help co-ordinate the 5th grade promotion celebration. Immediately following 5th grade promotion on the last day of school, children and parents join on the front lawn for simple refreshments and a chance to celebrate together. If you are a fourth grade parent who would like to help, please e-mail me at sloscalzo1@gmail.com. We have a detailed turnover report as well as prior volunteers who are ready to guide you!

INTERNATIONAL DAY: International day is a 2-day event that takes place in the Spring at Somerville. The event begins with a kick-off assembly at school on Thursday and continues in the evening with a program involving food and performances by the students in the gym. The Following day consists of country visits where all students "travel" to atleast 3 different countries to learn about a certain facet of each one, which is dictated by the year's theme.

This years theme is "Holidays/Celebrations" and the event is on April 23rd and 24th.

Not sure if you want to set up a table? Not sure you want to perform something on your own? Let us know and we will pair you up with the right group. International Day provides the perfect opportunity to present the unique diversity that we have in Somerville!

This year we also need help with Ireland, France, Australia, Italy and Great Britain. Please email us if you are available to help out!

If you are interested in participating or have any questions, please email Archana Mundhe (archana.mundhe@gmail.com) or Indu Rajesh (r_indira@hotmail.com)

TEACHER OF THE YEAR: Each year a ‘teacher of the year’ is recognized from each of our schools. Parent recommendations play a large role in the selection process. I have attached the nomination form here so please take a minute to fill out the form and let everyone know about our amazing Somerville teachers.

SPRING SOCIAL: I like anything with the word Spring in it! Our spring social is fast approaching. Please SAVE THE DATE! On April 24th at 8pm there will be food, drinks and lots of fun at the Park West Loft. Many more details to come.
